Music Classes & Lessons for Kids
Based on year-to-year interest within specific age ranges, the Gray School's highly-qualified early childhood faculty offers small group classes for “Music Kids” at various stages of early childhood from birth to age 8.
In the Fall and Spring semesters, kids from 4 to 7 years old should take Keyboard Kids classes. This introductory class focuses on piano while building a great foundation in music which can translate to any instrument as children grow. Scroll down for details.
In June, the Gray School hosts Summer Camps. Musical Extravaganza for grades K-5 teaches keyboards, guitar, percussion, and vocals.
We now teach ages 4 and up in guitar with our new Suzuki guitar instructor Erin Johnson.
Children's singing lessons are available for ages 5 and up.
At age 6, Music Kids can advance to private lessons studying specific instruments.

Keyboard Kids provides a piano education in a fast-paced class setting for children ages 4 to 7. Piano class provides a format of theory games, fun sheets, and engaging music in groups of 3 to 6 students. The musical curriculum is specifically written for piano groups ages 4-7.
It is fun to begin piano lessons with new piano friends. Keyboard kids focuses on piano while building a foundation in music which can later be translated to any instrument as the child matures. Students learn to correctly count rhythms, names of keys on the piano, as well as the fundamentals of staff note reading
Students progress over several years through a graduated course of staff note reading which ultimately creates musical independence. Various class piano curriculums are used depending on the age and ability of each class. Carpool with a friend and enjoy the fun of learning to play the piano together.

Keyboard Kids Policy 2016-2017
- Tuition for Keyboard Kids is $114 per month for total school year, paid out in 9.5 equal payments from August 2016 to May 2017.
- A class must have at least 3 children in the group. Enrollment is limited to 6 per class. Cancellation will result when less than required number of students enroll.
- Classes are held once per week for 45 minutes.
- If a class is missed there is no makeup lesson, but the assignment will be emailed to you.
- Parents are responsible for bringing and picking up students on time.
- Annual enrollment fee of $50 is required to enroll.

Keyboard Kids Faculty
Baoyi
Zeng
started playing piano at the age of six in China. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education with numerous scholarships and prizes from Xi'an Conservatory of Music in China. And she is currently pursuing her Master of Music Education degree in Piano Pedagogy at Texas Christian University, where she is studying piano pedagogy with Dr. Ann M. Gipson and piano with Prof. Jose Feghali and Mr. Harold Martina. Baoyi has been teaching piano since 2008. She won second prize in the Music Teacher Competition in Teaching Courseware of University and third prize in the Music Teacher Competition in Teaching Skills of University in 2011. She is very enthusiastic about teaching and has also been actively involved in piano performance and accompaniment.
Baoyi is a teaching assistant at Texas Christian University teaching piano classes for non music major and music major undergraduate students; piano classes for adult; group piano for children; private piano lesson for college elective students and music secondary students; private piano lesson through TCU’s Music Preparatory Division; and Young Early Childhood Music lesson. She is a member of MTNA (Music Teachers National Association). Baoyi is very passionate about teaching and patient with all students. She strives to show her students how beautiful music is through the piano and hopes to help her students make music a valuable part of their lives.
